the best editing advice I've ever heard

I got today: "You can get away with anything except boredom or confusion."

I'm still working out the practical ramifications of that, but it seems genius.

Yes, yes. If only we could go back in time to the '80s, and tell the makers of thirtysomething about this rule.

Somehow, I never saw thirtysomething. I wasn't in the demographic at the time, I s'pose, and considering you're the only person I've heard mention it in the last fifteen or so years, I don't have the urge to go pick it up on DVD.

Just another hole in my pop culture knowledge ...
